Crush is a special time of year in Yakima Valley wine country. Harvest is over, and production for the next vintage is just beginning. It’s an exciting time for both winemakers and connoisseurs alike. To celebrate, most of the Yakima Valley’s wineries put on special events, including fall cuisine tastings, themed festivals, concerts and specialty wine releases. You don’t need a ticket to enjoy the Crush festivities, but if you want a truly unique experience, you can purchase a Premier Pass and get access to library tastings, special tastings and more. Combine it all with our gorgeous early fall weather, and it makes for a fantastic autumn experience in the Yakima Valley.
There are dozens of delightful Crush events up and down the valley, but we thought we would highlight a few of the unique ones:
Join Airfield in their beautiful estate vineyard for this fun 5K Run! Runners, walkers, children, and well-behaved dogs on leashes are all welcome to attend. A portion of the proceeds benefit the AKC Canine Health Foundation. The course is great for the serious runners and the grape tasting along the way makes it quite entertaining for the avid wine enthusiast!
You’re invited to a wine dinner to die for! It’s the tragic, final wine auction of the Tortellini Brother’s Winery after Georgio, the owner, has died. Not everyone who knows Georgio finds this news palatable. Prepare to be immersed in an evening of treachery, murder, blackmail, intrigue and backstabbing. Reservations for this one of a kind winery event are required.
J. Bell is offering the very best in gourmet fare at their Annual Winemaker’s Dinner! You and your guests will enjoy a six-course dinner paired with their premium, handcrafted J. Bell Cellars wine.
Have you ever wondered what a winemaker does during the much talked about “Crush?” This is your chance to figure it all out. Participants spend some time in the vineyard tasting and testing grapes from the vine and learning what exactly makes a grape just perfect to pick. Following the vineyard, come into the cellar and see exactly what happens once the grapes are picked. Taste various stages of fermentation, test skills at punching down and you’ll be able to impress at your next dinner party!
Looking for a fun way to kick off the weekend? Join us for Fondue Night! It takes two to make a fondue seating, and each guest will receive one entree and one dessert with their ticket. Tickets are going fast, at $25/person, so call the winery at 509-877-0925 to reserve yours today!
