Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Millennium Plaza
Following the Holiday Lighted Parade, come join Santa at Millennium Plaza for the ceremonial lighting of the Community Christmas Tree!
December 3rd & 10th
The twinkling lights, booming carolers and lines of kids waiting to sit on Santa’s knee are all part of an annual ritual for some mall-goers. But for children with autism, those same holiday staples can be overwhelming triggers for stress. Many kids with autism and other special sensitivities never get the chance to tell the bearded man what they want for Christmas in person because the experience is sensory overload. Join us as we dim the lights, turn off the music and turn down the stress, hosted prior to the mall opening as an alternative event for families who have children with special sensitivities, or needs. Visit Santa, get a great pic and be relaxed & happy. *Those interested in attending must RSVP to reserve a time which allows for special queuing. Space is limited. For availability and reservations, call Guest Services at 509.469.9308.
Santa Story Time at Yo-Yakima
Join Santa and Mrs. Claus for story time at Yo Yakima Frozen Yogurt! You’ll enjoy a great story, fun prizes, reindeer games and of course, delicious frozen yogurt! It’s never too cold for fro-yo!
Ride the Santa Trolley
December 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th
Santa Claus will be taking a break from the North Pole to be in Downtown Yakima so he can ride the trolleys with all the kids! Hop on the trolley line and tell Santa your wish list!
Toy Train Christmas
December 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 16th & 17th
A holiday tradition for many Yakima Valley families! The event includes a Caboose Ride to the ‘North Pole’ to see Santa and Mrs. Claus. Children receive a candy cane from Santa and can get their photos taken (extra charge to purchase photos). There will be a Christmas craft to take home, the opportunity to play with a model train in a caboose next to the depot, and free hot chocolate and cookies!
