The Yakima Valley has a running event for everyone in the family! From marathons through the Yakima River Canyon, to nighttime sprints through black lights to 5K’s through wine country, there’s a run that everyone in the family can get excited about!

RUN A SCENIC MARATHON!
April 6-7, 2018
Run alongside the Yakima River surrounded by the towering basalt hills of the Yakima River Canyon Scenic Byway. The Yakima River Canyon Marathon is the standard marathon distance of 26.2 miles and is USATF certified. Race Headquarters is at the Selah Civic Center in Selah. Shuttle bus service is available. There is a pre-race Pasta Feed and Awards Ceremony meal ticket included with the entry fee.

One of the Yakima Valley Sports Commission Signature Event debuts in the summer of 2018. An untimed running event, the Dye Hard 5K provides participants with an opportunity to have fun with friends and family while getting covered in fluorescent colored powder. And don’t forget about the post-event party with music, dancing and even more powder. Be sure to mark your calendar, set your cell phone reminder and tell mom you want to go to this glow-in-the-dark fun run!

Kids ages 6 to 14 can run, bike and participate in the Obstacle Course. Ages 8-14 can also participate in a steeple chase and water course. The course length varies by age group and runs north on the Greenway Path from Sarg Hubbard Park. The bike course runs south along the pathway. The Steeple Chase consists of bales of hay, potato sack crawl. The water course is on the Reflection Pond located at Robertson Amphitheatre. Boats and paddles will be provided.

This is a community-oriented fun run in consisting of a fast, flat point-to-point half marathon, a 5k and a kid’s one mile fun run! This race is great for setting a half marathon or 5k personal record, or to run your very first race. This race has chip timing! The half marathon route meanders through wine country, beginning on a paved bike path from Sunnyside, through Grandview, and finishing in Prosser. The 5k and one mile races are held entirely in Prosser.
Rattlesnake Hills Wine Run 2018

Run the beautiful Rattlesnake Hills while tasting wine along the course. You will have an option of running a 5k, 10k or a half marathon. The wineries you can taste at are Cultura Winery, Paradiso del Sol, Bonair Winery, Portteus, Two Mountain, Silver Lake and Hyatt. Wineries involved along the course are offering a modified tasting of one of their wines for free. Silver Lake Winery will be offering tasting samples at $1/sample. Please make sure that you have your ID on you for wine tasting. There will be water stops, porta-potties, restrooms, first aid and an After Party celebration. Food vendors are Twisted Sisters and Squeeze Inn. Shopping vendors will be available along with post-race massages at Silverlake Winery!
Airfield Estates Annual 5K Vineyard Run

Great event for the whole family! Runners, walkers, children, and well-behaved dogs are welcomed to the beautiful estate vineyard for this 5K run/walk. The undulating course is great for serious runners and the grape tasting along the course makes it entertaining for the wine enthusiast! Prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for many divisions, including the dogs!

Valley of the Sun Triathlon

More than a run! Swim in Lake Aspen, ride out in the countryside toward Naches and run along the newly completed paved Yakima Greenway path. The Valley of the Sun offers two distances, Sprint and Olympic Course, which is an extension of the current popular sprint race. Choose either the Sprint (750m swim, 12 mile bike and 5k run) or Olympic (1.5k swim, 41k bike and 10k run) distance as an individual or enter as a team. Finishers will be greeted with music, light refreshments for athletes and the awards ceremony following the conclusion of each race.
