The Yakima Valley encompasses a number of small towns, all of which commemorate their distinctiveness with their own unique celebrations. From hot air balloon rally’s to hop harvest celebrations to building a dinosaur, you’ll find plenty of interesting ways to have fun in the Yakima Valley!
Zillah Community Days
The City of Zillah knows how to throw a party! Their Community Days features a carnival, talent show, a Fun Run, beer and wine garden, live entertainment and evening filled with fireworks! Don’t miss it!
Selah Community Days
May 17 -20
Captain Squirrel the Pirate Magician will be kick starting Selah’s Community Days with a great family friendly magic show on Friday night, followed by a potato feed and carnival rides! Then Saturday the fun continues with American Honey Band taking the stage, and a 5k night glow run. Sunday is Armed Forces Appreciation Day beginning at 11:00am and a food eating contest at 3:30pm. There is also a Cruz Night for vintage cars, a Hobo Feed, pancake feed, parade and much, much more!
Highland Country Fair
Tieton’s biggest annual community event, the Highland Country Fair, is a classic small town celebration that’s loads of fun. This family friendly event includes arts & crafts, tons of food, game booths, magicians, raffles, a 4H petting zoo, live music, and more! On stage will be the American Honey Band, The Olson Bros. Band and The Chase Craig Band.
First Saturday in June
Head over to Hisey “Dinosaur” Park for the Dino-in-a-Day event, where you can help create the newest member of the Granger dinosaur family. Granger is home to 33 dinosaurs, and every year, the community comes together to add another member to the family!
This year marks the 163rd anniversary of the signing of the treaty that formed the Yakama Nation Tribe. “Honoring our Grandmother’s” is the theme of this year’s parade, and the Yakama Nation Museum is honored to announce Arlene James Wesley, the first Miss Indian America as this year’s Treaty Day Parade Grand Marshal. She will be accompanied by other Miss Indian America representatives in the Yakama Nation Treaty Day Parade. They will also be celebrating the 38th anniversary of the Nation’s Cultural Center and Museum in Toppenish.
Old Town Days
Experience Washington State’s biggest Civil War reenactment, encampment and living history event! The Civil War Reenactment consists of five battles, including the popular evening battle on Saturday! There are also acres of living history camps on display, with demos on life during the Civil War, trading posts with merchandise for sale, plus food and vendors with items for sale. There are also kiddie train rides, old time kid’s games, photo opportunities, wagon tours, a working blacksmith shop, Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address reenactment, plus live music Friday and Saturday, a beer garden and so much more!
Since 1934, the American Cowboy has preserved the history of America’s original sport in the heart of Toppenish. Along with the rodeo, the celebration also features a parade, vendors, food, and traditional Native American pow-wow, which includes traditional Native American food, stick games and art and crafts booths.
Celebrating the Yakima Valley’s thriving hop industry, the Moxee Hop Festival features three days of entertainment including vendors, a parade, raffle, and of course an extensive beer garden!
Central WA State Fair
This ten day event officially kicks off with the Saturday Parade in Downtown Yakima, and then the party moves to State Fair Park for midway rides, national musical acts and entertainment, agricultural displays, fair food vendors, beer and wine gardens and so much more!
Grandview Community Parade
Come be a part of Grandview’s community parade! Then make a night of it in Grandview at the fair for a fun-filled night of food, friends and fun!
72nd Annual Wapato Harvest Festival
Honoring diversity and local agriculture. The Wapato Harvest Festival features two days of events and activities, including performances by the Filipino Youth Activities Drill Team, Mexico in Wapato Dancers, and Yakama Nation Swan Dancers, along with a car show, live music and tons of food!
Sportsman’s Days is one of the longest running community day events in the Yakima Valley. The event features free entertainment throughout the weekend along with a carnival, rides, food booths, game booths, silent auction, button drawings, free shows and much more. Sportsman Days provides a great time of community fellowship and fun which draws in visitors to Naches from around Central Washington.
Sunnyside Sunshine Days
This annual festival celebrates the gorgeous sunshine that has made Sunnyside such a beautiful community. Held in Centennial Square in downtown Sunnyside, this popular event features a parade, two beauty pageants, car shows, community dinners and a carnival, all crammed into one exciting weekend.
Benton City Daze Annual Community Celebration
During the last days of summer, the Benton City Community likes to pull together and have a bit of fun. Celebrating with a community parade, downtown vendors, music, shows, pageants and more! There is no other event like it: a community event in the shade of the Red Mountain AVA wineries!
The Great Prosser Balloon Rally
Hot Air Balloons take to the sky at The Great Prosser Balloon Rally! The balloons are scheduled to launch at sunrise from the Prosser Washington Airport. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early at about 6:15 am to watch the pilots prepare the giant balloons. Some lucky spectators are even asked to assist the balloon pilots inflate, chase, and recover the Hot Air Balloons. There is also the Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Launches, Night Glow, Harvest Festival, Farmers Market, and the Caren Mercer-Andreason Street Painting Festival!
