School is almost out for the summer, which means it’s time to find fun activities for the whole family! The Yakima Valley has loads of things to do, from miles of paved trails for biking and hiking, plus camping, river floats, festivals and more! Here are a few choices to add to your vacation Itinerary:
Yakima’s historic trolley runs on weekends and holidays through September 30 at 10am, noon and 2pm. Take the 5 mile ride over the Naches River into Selah and back.
Free concerts in Downtown Yakima presented by Solarity Credit Union, every Thursday evening from 5:30-9pm, starting June 14 to August 16. There is food for purchase, a beer garden, and lots of kid’s activities.
UNION GAP OLD TOWN DAYS
Central WA Agriculture Museum
The whole family will enjoy the Civil War reenactment and the educational Civil War encampment. There will be children’s activities throughout the day and live music every night. The Ag museum also has historic farm equipment and pioneer cabins on display. Free admission and free parking.
YAKIMA FOLKLIFE FESTIVAL
This is a family friendly free concert in the park with tons of children activities. The festival kicks off with a Friday night concert and continues with concerts during the day on Saturday and Sunday. The park is located next to the Franklin Park Pool, and there is a children’s play area, food and craft vendors, and a beer garden.
BILLS BERRY FARM
Cherry and Berry Days
9am-5pm on Saturdays from June 16-July 7 and 9am-3pm July 4.
Sweet as a Peach Days
9am-5pm on Saturday July 28, August 4, and August 11.
Spend a day on the farm! Both events offer U-pick fruit, a picnic area, playground, petting zoo, hay wagon rides and cherry, blueberry or peach donuts, hamburgers, hot dogs and lemonade for sale.
LAVENDER HARVEST DAYS
Selah Ridge Lavender Farm
Offering U-pick lavender, local artisans, wreath making and lavender products for sale, along with educational demonstrations of lavender oil distilling, activities for children, live music and more.
DYE HARD 5K COLOR RUN
Sozo Sports Complex.
This is a nighttime run featuring glow in the dark powder and foam. The event is open to everyone ages 6 and older, and there will be a post race festival with entertainment and food and beverage vendors.
