The Yakima Valley is in the heart of Washington State’s agricultural region. During autumn there are numerous fall harvest events showcasing the seasons’ fun and flavors. Take a hay ride, get lost in a corn maze, and find the best pumpkin in the patch. Create new family traditions and bring home priceless memories. Thompson’s Farm Pumpkin Patch. Watch the pig races; take a hay ride through the orchard, find the biggest pumpkin. Kids will love “panning” for gems and playing with water pumps in the play area. There are fresh-made pumpkin donuts, beverages and popcorn available for purchase and you can pick your own apples in the nearby orchard! Best of all, watch the pumpkin’s as they are fired from the giant pumpkin cannon every hour. The farm offers free admission, free parking, no charge for the pig races and cannon firing and lots of free photo opportunities. There is a charge for the corn maze, children’s play area, hay rides, pumpkins, homemade donuts, apples and other goodies. Open weekends in October 9am to 4pm.
October Days at Washington Fruit Place & Gift Shop. In October, Washington Fruit Place & Gift Shop holds its’ annual Fall Harvest Festival. The festival includes hay rides, cider press demonstrations, pumpkin patch, hay maze and more. There are plenty of unique farm-related gifts at the barn gift shop. The Union Gap Corn Maze Pick your perfect pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, enjoy unlimited hay rides, use of the public fire pits, run through the straw maze, meet some friendly farm animals and take unlimited rides on the inflatable slide. Admission is $10 for ages 11 and up, $8 for ages 3 to 10, and anyone under 2 is free with a paid adult. Admission is valid all day and you can return with a hand stamp. Wed/Thurs: 3pm-9:30 pm.
